Tell Your Senate and Assemblymembers to Override the Governor's Budget Vetoes! April 18th - As you know the Governor vetoed almost $3 billion dollars in spending from the Legislature's Budget. The Legislature is on recess this week and we need to call our Senate and Assembly members to urge them to override the Governors vetoes. Calls can be made throughout this week and early next week.
! March 16th Call-In to Stop Budget Cuts to Welfare and Health Care Governor Pataki has once again decided to balance the budget on the backs of New York’s most vulnerable families, while creating more tax cuts for the wealthy. He has proposed cuts in healthcare and welfare that will leave families struggling to make ends meet.
Call today to tell the Governor and the Legislature that these cuts are unacceptable! We need a budget that works for all New Yorkers.
!
Oppose the Welfare Cuts - Write to Your Assemblymember Today! The NYS Assembly and Senate introduced their budget resolution bills this week. The Assembly did not include any of the Governor’s proposed welfare cuts in their bill. Sign and fax the attached letter thanking your Assembly member for opposing the welfare cuts and urge them to remain strong in their negotiations with the Senate.
There is one letter to Assembly members thanking them for their opposition to the welfare cuts. It is critical that your Assembly members hear from you today so that they remain strongly opposed to the welfare cuts as they enter into negotiations with the Senate.
