State Budget Alert - Please call Assembly member Keith Wright, (518 455-4793 Albany) - Chair of the Joint Conference Committee on Labor and Human Services:
Key message: Don't delay the welfare grant hike. Thank you for opposing full family sanctions for welfare participants. Please increase funding for jobs programs for welfare participants. Make the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes.
Additional message. Help free up child care slots by suspending work requirements for welfare families with children under the age of 2. Raise the state minimum wage to $10 an hour. Instead of giving the $14 billion from the stock transfer tax to Wall Street speculators, use it to create 500,000 public community jobs.
You can also call Assemblymember Michele Titus (518-455-5668), the new chair of the Assembly Social Services Committee, and Assemblymember Speaker Sheldon Silver. (518 455-3791)
